Meet Emma Knight. Emma is 15 years old and in the 10th grade. She plans to get the HOPE scholarship and attend the University of Memphis or Vanderbilt after high school, but don’t ask her what she wants to be when she grows-up; she has no idea. I have a feeling that it won’t be a desk job though, she’s not that kind of girl.
She’s a talented writer, dress-maker, musician and shameless hugger. If she’s known you for more than five minutes and likes you, you get a hug, no matter what. Her energy and good vibes are contagious and she agreed to let us publish one of her poems, so for your reading pleasure here is….
To Shy To Say by Emma Knight
I want to tell you how I feel
but the words I can not find.
They are all mixed up, my thoughts
that are running through my mind.
I know why I feel like this
the racing in my heart.
I wish I could tell you
but I don’t know where to start.
Should I say how much you mean to me?
If I were to say those things what would you do?
Would you ever look my way?
That would just bring me back
to were I am today.
Thanks Emma for letting us share your talent with the whole neighborhood. We are very proud of you!
